Uniform
At Causeway Green Primary School, we believe that wearing a school uniform is key to fostering a sense of belonging, inclusion, pride and community amongst our pupils.
The Governing Body support the policy of school uniform at Causeway Green. Our school uniform policy is designed to support a positive learning environment where pupils feel comfortable and focused. School uniform is part of the school ethos, and in choosing to send their child to our school, the expectation is that parents will agree to support our policy.
We ask all of our pupils to wear their uniform with pride. With this, we appreciate the support of our families to ensure that the uniform is worn consistently. We value the partnership between school and home, and we ask that parents ensure their child wears the correct school uniform, keeping it clean, in good condition, and clearly labelled with the child’s name. We understand that, at times, families may face challenges in fulfilling uniform requirements, and we encourage parents to contact a senior member of staff confidentially if any support or assistance is needed.
Children who start with us in Reception for a September start will be able to choose some low-cost school uniform from our selection of new and pre-loved stock. These will be available at our induction meeting for new parents during the Summer Term. Stock and availability will vary.
We also welcome children from all backgrounds, faith communities, and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). If there are special circumstances—such as religious beliefs or SEND needs—that require a variation from the standard uniform, we will be happy to discuss these requests and make reasonable adjustments where possible. Our goal is to ensure every child feels included and comfortable while maintaining the values of our school community.
Main school uniform
● Plain grey, charcoal or black skirt, pinafore, skorts, shorts or trousers
● Summer dresses – red and white
● White blouse, shirt or polo top
● Red pullover, cardigan, or sweatshirt
● Sensible black shoes or plain black trainers (no open toe/sandals/heels/no branded footwear)
● Plain white, black or grey socks and tights
● Plain and proportionate scrunchies, hairbands, ribbons and bows

Religious Articles of Faith
Our school is committed to respecting and celebrating the diverse faiths and beliefs of our community while ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
Pupils may wear recognised religious articles of faith as part of their religious observance. These should be appropriate for a primary school environment and must not present a risk to the wearer or others. Where a religious article could pose a health and safety risk during physical activity, appropriate adjustments will be made to enable pupils to participate safely while continuing to respect their faith.
For our pupils who wear a Kara, only one Kara of a standard size should be worn. During PE lessons and active playtimes, the Kara must be fully covered with a protective sweatband to minimise the risk of injury. Sweatbands suitable for this purpose will be available to purchase from the school office in black or red.
Other religious articles or symbols (for example, crosses, Stars of David, hijabs, patkas, turbans, yarmulkes, or similar items worn as part of a pupil's faith) are welcomed where they are worn in accordance with the requirements of the pupil's religion and do not compromise health and safety. During activities where an item may present a risk, the school will work sensitively with parents/carers and, where appropriate, seek advice from faith leaders or relevant organisations to agree reasonable adjustments that allow pupils to participate safely while respecting their religious beliefs.
PE kits
All children are expected to take part in these lessons and to wear the appropriate clothing. The following items of P.E kit will be required for pupils from Reception onwards.
· Black Shorts
· White T-Shirt (plain)
· Plain coloured T-Shirt in house colours – for house competitions and Sports Day
· Pumps/trainers
· White socks
· A plain black jogging top/suit, or jumper, will be needed for PE taught outside.
· Please name all items of clothing and footwear
If there is any problem with your child’s P.E. kit, please see the class teacher.
PE kits will be kept in school for pupils to change into. These will be sent home each half term for washing.
Jewellery
Children are allowed to wear
· Analogue watches
· One pair of plain stud earrings in the lobe of each ear. These need to be removed for PE lessons for the children’s safety and to prevent injuries. Earrings must be removed by pupils; teachers are not permitted to remove earrings.
· There may be exceptions for religious jewellery or medical bracelets, which are agreed upon with parental consent and appropriate precautions.
No other jewellery is permitted.

Pre-loved uniform
At Causeway Green, we are advocates for pre-loved, second-hand uniforms. We aim to have a good stock of donated uniforms, making it possible for parents to buy either at a small cost or with a donation. All donations go towards our school fund to pay for fun events which the children may not otherwise have access to.
With a rapidly growing awareness of our global environmental challenges along with the rise in cost of living, we want to normalise the reusing of clothing and other school items to help reduce our footprint and support families. This is a great way to educate our children by supporting a recycling culture directly within the school ‘family’.
If you have any donated uniforms, please bring them to the main school office, where we will make the best use of them.
Lost Property
We ask that all items of clothing be named – even in Year 6. This helps children develop a sense of responsibility and care for their belongings. If an item is lost and it is named, then we can return the item to its owner. If items are not identifiable, we will place them into the lost property boxes at our School Office/Reception.
