Gem Awards
Well done to our children who received a GEM award this term.
GEM award winners are published in our weekly newsletter. Read all about their achievements!
GEM cards are part of our positive behaviour approach. When we catch a child doing something extraordinary we award a GEM card. These are given for both personal and academic achievements. This may be helping a friend, never giving up and showing RESPECT!
Resilience, Empathy, Self-care, Positivity, Excellence, Communication and Teamwork.
Promoting Great Choices and Behaviour with our GEM Cards
At Causeway Green, we believe that every child deserves to come to school feeling safe, happy and ready to learn. One of the ways we promote this is through our GEM card system.
When we see children making great choices and showing one of our core RESPECT values, we celebrate them with praise and the award of a GEM card. These values are not only important for learning in school – they are also essential life skills that will help our children flourish beyond the classroom.
Our RESPECT Values
-
Resilience – We keep going, even when things are tricky. We learn to take risks, persevere, and never give up.
-
Excellence – We aim high, work hard towards our goals, and support others to achieve their best, too.
-
Self-Aware – We keep ourselves and others safe by making thoughtful, responsible choices.
-
Positivity – We bring a ‘can-do’ attitude, trying our best and encouraging others to do the same.
-
Empathy – We show kindness, respect and understanding towards ourselves and others.
-
Communication – We listen carefully, share our ideas, and value the voices of those around us.
-
Teamwork – We work together, look after each other, and take pride in our school and environment.
Every day, GEM cards are given out for moments big and small – for helping a friend, showing determination, or demonstrating respect in action. Over time, these GEM cards help our children understand that their choices matter, and that living by our RESPECT values helps us all to thrive.
Together, we are building a school community where great behaviour shines bright – just like a GEM!
