All admissions should go through the Sandwell Council

Reception admissions — entry September 2027

If your child is due to start Reception in September 2027, you can apply for a school place online from Monday 14 September 2026. The closing date for applications is Friday 15 January 2027. Please read the guidance below and take action before the closing date.

How to apply

• Apply online via Sandwell School Admissions: www.sandwell.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

• If you do not have an email address or need help using the online system, Sandwell’s public libraries can provide assistance during their normal opening hours.

• Advice and support are also available from the Parent Support Line on 0121 569 6765 and via the council’s “Contact us about school admissions” webpage.

Information for families known to the school

• If your child currently attends our nursery, we will give you a printed letter before 14 September 2026 with full instructions on making your online application.

• Please remember: admission to Reception is not automatic. You must submit an application by the closing date of 15 January 2027.

Additional and paper forms

• Some applications require supplementary evidence (for example, medical or denominational grounds). These additional forms are available to download from the council website.

• Paper application forms are provided only in exceptional circumstances and can be downloaded from the Admissions and Appeals Virtual Office.

Keeping track and reminders

• The Admissions Team will forward details of submitted online applications to schools on a regular basis. This helps us identify families who have not yet applied.

• We will send a reminder at least two weeks before the closing date to families who are known to the school but have not applied. The school records the date and method of these reminders.

Important checks and conduct

• Please provide your child’s correct full name, date of birth and permanent home address on the application. We will check details against our records and may notify the Admissions Team if the address supplied appears to be incorrect so it can be verified.

• School staff must not give opinions about whether an application is likely to be successful, and staff will not provide letters supporting an application.

You will be able to apply online at https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/school-admissions/applying-reception-place-year-3-junior-school during the period from Monday 14 September 2026 until the closing date of Friday 15 January 2027.

Non-Sandwell residents must contact their home Authority

Don’t worry, if you don’t have a computer at home, you can also apply from one of Sandwell’s 19 libraries and at Sandwell primary schools that offer computer support. You may also apply from a mobile device (eg smartphone or tablet).

Remember:

• You cannot apply for a reception place before 14 September 2026

• To have the best chance of getting the school you prefer, you must apply before 15 January 2027

Applying for Secondary School Places for September 2027 - Year 6 parents

You will be able to apply for a secondary (Year 7) school place for your child from Monday 13 July 2026.

Now is the time to start thinking about your options. When considering which schools to apply for, we suggest that you look out for details of open days/evenings which will be publicised on the schools and LA’s websites and local press. Consider how closely you meet the school’s admission criteria and visit the LA website to view their parent information booklet.

To apply, please first register at https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/school-admissions/applying-secondary-school. You will then receive an email with a link to complete and submit your application (Non‑Sandwell residents should contact their home Authority).

Please note: You cannot apply before 13 July 2026 and to have the best chance of getting the school you want, you must apply by the closing date of 31 October 2026.
